The impact of labour content on staff turnover

Thanks to this weekly blog, we hope to gain more knowledge about the motives behind staff turnover and offer new tools. In the search for statistically proven reasons for staff turnover, this week we discuss the influence of job content. For this study, we used a sample of 1000+ respondents.

How can staff turnover be explained?

employee turnover can be explained by the idea that the 4A's (work content, work conditions, work relationships) influence the intention to leave the organisation. Each "A" is linked statistically (linearly) to the actual perception of a career and, among other variables, to the degree of voluntariness, gender, level of education, etc.

What is work content?

Labour content refers to the nature and level of work and the way in which these tasks are to be carried out. Important points of interest within the Labour content include task structure, autonomy, cooperation possibilities and qualification requirements.

Influence of Labour content

Conclusion

The perception of the job content factor clearly plays a significant role and is thus statistically decisive in the career of the employee in our sample. The expectations of the content play a role especially in involuntary staff turnover. We consider this to be the most striking result. Evidently, the involuntarily outgoing employee experiences the content so intensively that it ultimately exerts significant influence on the overall perception on departure.
